Some people like adopting pets from the local animal shelter.
Others have a specific breed or type of pet that they must have, so they don’t mind paying several hundred dollars or even several thousand for that pet.
Then there are the people that must have a specific pet no matter how much they cost.
Here are a few of those pets:
The Green Monkey was purchased by Demi O’Byrne at a price tag of $16 million. The price was so high because the horse was a descendant of two Kentucky Derby winners. O’Byrne had high hopes for the horse but it never won a race.
Edgar and Nina Otto lost their beloved dog Lancelot in 2008. One year later they welcomed another Lancelot into their home – this one was a clone of their previous dog. The couple won a dog-cloning auction from the company Bio-Arts that was held in San Francisco. The price tag to have Lancelot cloned was $155,000.
$138,000 White Lion Cub
They start out so cute and soft but these white lion cubs will grow to be 300lb beasts. They are more common in South Africa where they are known as a rarity and many find them a beautiful creature to own.
Chimpanzees are closely related to humans and are very intelligent primates. They weigh around 100-115 lbs and also come with a steep price tag of around $65,000. They are an endangered species but are legal pets in some places in the United States.
$10,000 Hyacinth Macaw
These beautiful blue birds tend to command around $20,000 for a pair. All Macaws are expensive but Hyacinths are the most expensive. The wingspan of the bird is around four feet and they are quite popular in the US, despite their high price tag.
$5,000 Chinese Crested Hairless Puppies
You’re not paying for looks on this dog but you’re paying for something. These are said to be one of the rarest dogs in the world. They will also get sunburned on a hot and clear day so you must take proper care of them too. They are known for being friendly and alert and they tend to live to be 12 or 13 years old.
Those are just a few pets that could cost you an arm and a leg (especially when your White Lion cubs grow up).
You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a pet that you will love for a long time. Some of the best pets are free!
